Dec 06

Wow! Steve Morse rocked my world. What a brilliant (such an understatement) guitarist and beautiful soul. I feel privileged to have had such special treatment on 3rd of May when Deep Purple played in Perth.
I yelled out"Steve give me a pic" and him seeing my camera, instead of ignoring me as photography was forbidden,or if he was an egotist, he smiled, danced for me, did a few funny poses, played me some music and lifted his guitar up for me, smiling. It was awesome. He made me feel very special.

I was most upset about the results of my photos though :(

Steve's performance outshone the other DP members though. From the time he stepped on stage he was smiling, radiating, loved to be there, just sharing joy and friendship. It was personal, and an artist of such magnitude who can feel so comfortable giving and communicating...well what can I say? I love him to bits! I mean him and I exchanged hearts - that was so awesome!!

I used to think Ritchie Blackmore was guitargod , but Steve's magical guitarwork combined with his beautiful attitude just made him number one. The Steve Morse style was evident in all the DP tunes, it was refreshing without losing the old familiarity. To be perfectly honest, Steve has breathed new life into old school DP. I for one totally loved it.

I don't say any of this frivolously though, DP was the first International band I saw live 28th November (was it '84?) and Ritchie Blackmore inspired me like no other all I wanted to do was play lead. Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow LP was totally thrashed day and night while I learnt to play 'Catch the Rainbow' on my first electric guitar. Which incidentally took me 3 months to pay off from Theos on Stirling St Perth, (My first job at a printing factory at age 15 earning $92 a week).

I lived in a house in Maylands then with about 8 musos, one of them a guitar player who though he was Ritchie Blackmore. G'day Roy (Judge). This house introduced me to a great many musos and bands around the city and music became my life blood, The music scene was my family. I always think of them, wherever they may be...if you find me one of you, don't be shy. I never grew out of the 80's music scene and probably never will! Most of you will still be 10 years older than me! or 20...as far as music goes it repetitiously takes 10 years off me everytime I do housework whilst playing Metallica. haha! Never any arguments here, my kids listen to the same music as I do...no generation gap in this house. :) I'm the only one with ninja star stickers on the car though.

2006-2007

Motley Crue, Motorhead, Living end, Simple plan, Karnivool including Birds of Tokyo. Casanovas, Fireball, Day of the Dead, End of Fashion, Kiss Chasey, All American Rejects and some I can't remember now. Just recently, Deep Purple featuring the magical Steve Morse, Status Quo and The Sandman. So it's been an awesome year for music bands! Been on a few good rides too.
Anyway check out some photos I took at the concerts in the left nav under Photos.
